The purpose of this study is to to compare the efficacy of intravaginal culture (IVC) of embryos in INVOcellâ„¢ (INVO Bioscience, MA, USA) to traditional in vitro fertilization (IVF) incubators in a laboratory setting using a mild pre-determined stimulation regimen based solely on anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) and body weight with minimal ultrasound monitoring. The primary endpoint examined was total quality blastocysts expressed as a percentage of total oocytes placed in incubation. Secondary endpoints included percentage of quality blastocysts transferred, pregnancy, and live birth rates.

Whether severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) can be detected in semen and transmitted sexually is a vital question that has, thus far, been inconclusive. Prior studies, with limited numbers, have included men in various stages of infection with most in the recovery phase of the illness. The timing of test results and severity of illness has made recruiting study participants a significant challenge. Our pilot study will examine semen from men with a recent diagnosis of COVID-19 as well as those in the convalescent phase to determine if SARS-CoV-2 can be detected and its relationship, if any, with the severity of the disease.

As a powerful technology for genome engineering, the CRISPR/Cas system has been successfully applied to modify the genomes of various species. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the technology and establish principles for the introduction of precise genetic modifications in early human embryos.

PURPOSE: To determine expression of G-protein estrogen receptor (GPER) in mouse oocyte membrane during maturation. METHODS: The expression of GPER from different maturation stages of oocytes, in vivo and in vitro matured oocytes as well as aging oocytes was examined by immune-fluorescence GPR30 antibody and the images were analyzed by laser scanning confocal microscope. Further confirmation was performed by Western blots for cell fractionation. RESULTS: Significant fluorescent signal was observed on the surface of mouse oocytes. The image expression was lower in germinal vesicle (GV) stage than mature metaphase-II (M-II) stage oocytes. There was high expression in in-vivo matured oocytes compared to in vitro matured oocytes. The highest expression was observed in aging oocytes compared with other oocytes. CONCLUSIONS: The changes of expression of GPER on mouse oocytes plasma membrane confirm oocyte membrane maturation, suggesting that those changes of GPER may be related to the functional role of oocyte maturation.

Vitrification techniques employ a relatively high concentration of cryoprotectant in vitrification solutions. Exposure of oocytes to high concentrations of cryoprotectant is known to damage the oocytes via both cytotoxic and osmotic effects. Therefore, the key to successful vitrification of oocytes is to strike a balance between the usage of minimal concentration of cryoprotectant without compromising their cryoprotective actions.

Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) is commonly known as the most potent marker for ovarian reserve due to its decline as female age increases. While serum AMH (sAMH) levels have been intensively investigated, there is less data regarding AMH concentrations in follicular fluid (FF), since FF has usually been designated as waste product during oocyte collection in assisted reproductive technologies. This pilot study investigated follicle AMH concentrations (fAMH) of several follicles per ovary, individually collected with the Steiner-Tan needle, and compared them to sAMH concentrations in women undergoing IVF treatment. We hypothesized that there is no difference of fAMH concentrations in individual follicles and that these concentrations resemble the sAMH value of the patient.
