AIM:: To present first experience of the use N-butyl cyanoacrylate with metacryloxisulfolane (Glubran 2) synthetic surgical glue, in the nonsurgical closure of oroantral communication (OAC). MATERIAL AND METHODS:: Two OACs, created after the exodontia of tooth 27 in 2 female patients, were sealed and closed with Glubran 2 surgical glue and monitored OACs, until the epithelization of the sockets was ended successfully. Two months postclosure of OACs, the sealed OACs were evaluated on the panoramic image and Water’s view radiography. RESULTS:: The extraction wounds with OACs were monitored until 23rd and 25th postinterventional days, when epithelization of socket ended successfully. On the panoramic image and Water’s view radiography, there were no radiological signs of maxillary sinus pathoses. CONCLUSION:: Glubran 2 can be successfully applied in the closure of OAC from 3 to 5 mm in diameter.

PURPOSE:: The objective of the present study was to realize an indirect morphometric evaluation of bone thickness lateral to the mandibular canal. MATERIAL AND METHODS:: In 30 partially or totally edentulous dry jaws, the first and second molar areas were analyzed using computed tomography. RESULTS:: The findings indicated that 28.33% of the sites could be considered for the installation of a standard 3.75-mm-diameter implant laterally between the mandibular canal and its bony counterpart. CONCLUSION:: Implant installation in the posterior mandible region, lateral to the mandibular canal, is an alternative to more complex techniques, such as vertical ridge augmentation.

This is a case report of anterosuperior alveolar distraction using an implant-fixed provisional prosthesis. Osteotomy and placement of a distraction device were performed in a healthy 69-year-old woman. To avoid lingual inclination during the distraction period, the device’s rod was buried in the labial side of a provisional prosthesis supported by posterior implants. The mandibular bone was obliquely distracted by 0.3 mm every 2 days. Implant insertion was performed, and a good prognosis was anticipated. Inclination is thought to be caused by soft tissue on the lingual side. Many reports propose methods to avoid inclination, but these methods require established support from the teeth and cannot be adapted for an edentulous case. The method reported here is useful for distraction osteogenesis because it can be adapted for edentulous cases.
